Final Exams and Culminating Activities in June 

Attention families and students:

All students will have exams and/or culminating activities at the end of the school in June, as they do each semester and each school year in secondary school. According to YRDSB’s Secondary Reporting Timelines, June exams will be scheduled between June 17 and June 23, with the possibility of Grade 12 culminating activities beginning on June 16th, and class concluding on June 24th. Families are not to book vacations, trips, or other activities during this time. 

If students or families have any questions about final exams and culminating activities in June, they should speak to a Woodbridge College administrator. Thank you!

Equity in Action: Combating Antisemitism and Racism workshop

JF&CS is proud to be hosting the upcoming Equity in Action: Combating Antisemitism and Racism workshop on Wednesday, April 29, 2026.

This in-person workshop will provide a meaningful opportunity to deepen our understanding of equity, explore strategies to address racism and antisemitism, and strengthen inclusive practices within our workplace and client services. It will be led by the Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Centre for Holocaust Studies and will include facilitated 

discussions to translate learning into actionable steps.

This event is free to attend. Moderated by Zach Sadowski, Director, Antisemitism, Programming and Outreach, Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Centre.

Speakers include:

  • Jess Burke – Director, Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Training Liaison to 2SLGBTQIA+ Partnerships, CIJA
  • Kalea Kirsh – Neurodiversity Educator and Advocate, Founder of NeuroInclusivity

Inclusive School and Community Services (ISCS) and the Network of Educators Supporting Jewish Learners (NESJL) invite students, parents, community, and staff to come together in celebration of Jewish Heritage Month through an evening of connection, creativity, and community.

Join us for a joyful and engaging experience with an author and artist. Enjoy a live reading of a children’s book, followed by a hands-on art activity in which participants will create a unique piece of art inspired by storytelling, identity, and shared experiences.

An Evening of Culture, Creativity & Contributions

Join Inclusive Schools and Community Services (ISCS) as we come together to celebrate Jewish Heritage Month. This year’s gathering will feature light refreshments, activities, and an opportunity for students, families, and staff to connect while acknowledging and honouring the rich history, culture, and contributions of the Jewish community. All students, families, and staff are welcome to attend.

LAMPS: Learning About Mental Health Presentation Series

The YRDSB Central Mental Health Team will be hosting a virtual mental health and wellness presentation for families and caregivers on Wednesday, May 6, 2026 from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Based on information shared with us from the YRDSB Welcome center, and the 6 language capacity of Microsoft Teams we will be providing language translation in Farsi-Persian, Mandarin (simple Chinese written), Cantonese (traditional Chinese written), Turkish, Ukrainian, and Korean. Translation can be provided during the presentation through the online virtual platform tool.

Registration information will also be shared through our Parent/Caregiver Mental Health Newsletter, through the WWW Events Page, social media, as well as through your school’s Mental Health Liaison. 

YRDSB is proud to celebrate Children’s Mental Health Awareness Week from May 4th to May 8th, 2026

To complement the incredible work already happening in our classrooms, the Central Mental Health Team has curated a comprehensive Family Toolkit. Within the toolkit, you can find helpful tips on how to support mental health as well as  Live & Recorded Presentations: Facilitated by the Central Mental Health Team, York Region Public Health, and external presenters. Included are also carefully selected tools to support student well-being.

We aim to foster emotional connection and enhance identity-affirming spaces where every student feels a deep sense of mattering and belonging. 

We invite you to explore the Family Toolkit to choose resources that best fit your family’s journey. Together, let’s continue building a community where every student knows they belong.

York Regional Police Festival - Rise of Road Tennis

Join us at the York Regional Police Community Safety Village in Whitchurch-Stouffville to learn about the game of road tennis and participate in the sport firsthand.

Bring your family and friends to learn how to play a sport that originated in Barbados.

A mix between the sports of tennis, table tennis and pickleball, this sport will get you moving. 

This event will take place on Saturday, June 27, 2026 from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

York Region Summer Programs 2026

York Region offers subsidies for recreation programs, day camps and youth overnight camps. Recreation programs and day camp subsidies provide children from families with low income the ability to take part in programs offered by the municipal recreation departments. The youth overnight camp funding helps eligible youth ages 12 to 17 attend an approved overnight camp.

Available Subsidies for:

  • Positive Leisure Activities for Youth (PLAY)
  • Summer day camp funding
  • Youth overnight camp funding

Black Youth Mental Wellness and Empowerment Series: R.I.S.E. Program

NACCA is delivering a virtual, 8-week Africentric mental wellness workshop series for Black youth up to Grade 12 who reside in York Region. All sessions will be supported by a mental health clinician. Please see this link for more information and registration.

Graduation Photos

There are a number of students who have not taken their graduation photo. We have a couple of pop up studios over the weekend students can go to.  We have our Toronto, Markham, and Aurora studio almost every weekend starting this week servicing all of York Region

How to Book an Appointment:

  • Select “Book at Offsite Studio”
  • Choose the studio location closest to you (Markham or Aurora or Toronto)
  • When prompted for the school, begin typing your school name or use your school
  • code “WBC”
  • Select a date and time that works best

Full Disclosure Date for Semester Two - May 8

The Full Disclosure date for Grade 11 and Grade 12 courses is May 8. If a student withdraws from a Grade 11 or 12 course on or prior to May 8, 2028, then the course will not be recorded on the Ontario Student Transcript.  The full disclosure date for YRDSB Fall Session night school is Tuesday, April 28.

Potential graduates who are applying to an Ontario college and/or university who are planning to drop a course are encouraged to connect with their guidance counsellor in advance of these dates. Guidance appointments can be booked via TeachAssist.

Important dates

  • April 24 - This is the date that Grade 11 and 12 marks are uploaded to OUAC
  • April 24 - This is the date that Grade 11 and 12 marks are uploaded to OCAS
  • April 29-May 1- report cards are e-transmitted
  • May 8 - This is the date any Grade 11 and 12 courses will permanently appear on
    your transcript. Courses dropped by this date will not show on a student’s transcript

Summer School - Continuing Education

Acceleration Courses (18 days)

NEW - July and August summer courses

For students who wish to earn a credit in a subject they have not previously studied or those who wish to upgrade a mark in a course that they have successfully completed. 

Students are encouraged to register early to avoid disappointment. Course offerings are not guaranteed as they are based on sufficient enrollment and teacher availability. 

Students can only take one acceleration course during the summer session. Transportation is not provided for this program.

Registration opened March 25 and closes June 5

Option 1: Online Learning​ (formerly elearning)

Courses that are specifically designed to be taught in a fully online format. Online learning does not require pupils and teachers to be face-to-face with each other. Classes occur online using an asynchronous model, with check-in opportunities with the teacher. The learning platform is Brightspace by D2L.

Dates: July Summer School (June 30 to July 24) and  August Summer School (July 27- August 20)
Hours:  Flexible (6 hours per day minimum)

Option 2: In-Person Learning

Courses will be offered in a face-to-face learning model.  
Dates:  June 30 to Friday, July 24
Hours:  8:45 am to 3:32 pm

Option 3: Remote Synchronous Learning

The learning platform is Google Classroom. Classes will be a mix of synchronous (real-time) and asynchronous learning. The teachers will be expected to be online for most of the day.  A majority of the day will be spent in synchronous learning experiences (Google Meet with whole class or small groups, phone or video chats, individual conferencing – a combination of many tools to engage in synchronous learning).  In July, before the start of classes, your child will receive an email with instructions on how to log on and participate in the class. Remote Summer School

Y2 LEGACY: A Black-Centred Approach to Leadership, Innovation, and Excellence 2026 Summer Program

Y2 LEGACY is a transformative summer learning program that empowers students through a Black-centred lens  celebrating leadership, innovation, and academic excellence. By building foundational knowledge and identity-affirming skills, students emerge with the confidence and capabilities to lead in their schools and communities. The foundational skills students gain in the summer will support them in navigating the school year with confidence and leadership.

Registration Participation in Y2 LEGACY is competitive, and space is limited. To be considered for enrollment, interested students must complete the following:

1. All students must complete a Y2 LEGACY Google Application Form (will be available in March 2026).

2. Students currently attending a YRDSB day school must register for their selected course using My Pathway Planner (myBlueprint), while students who do not attend a YRDSB day school must register using the flyer

Registration opens March 25, 2026.

Summer Dates: Tuesday, June 30 to Friday, July 24, 2026, from 8:45 a.m. - 3:32 p.m.

 

Community Involvement Hours Certificate

Students in Ontario need to volunteer for at least 40 hours to graduate from high school. Learn more about the requirements to get your high school volunteer hours.

If you go above and beyond in your volunteer work during high school, you can earn a Minister’s Certificate of Recognition for Community Involvement when you graduate. This new certificate celebrates your dedication to helping others and for completing more than 50 volunteer hours during high school. Please remember to get pre-approval before you start.

If you are graduating this June, please be sure to submit all hours for this certificate by May 1st. If you have any questions or need support finding volunteer opportunities, feel free to reach out to your guidance counsellor.

Sinai Health (Mount Sinai Hospital and Hennick Bridgepoint Hospital) is hosting an online information session for students interested in a hospital co‑op placement for the 2026–2027 school year.
