🌟 Empowering Young Women in Skilled Trades 🌟
Last week, our female students in Grades 9 and 10 from our Technological Education courses had the exciting opportunity to participate in the Young Women in Skilled Trades Bootcamp, hosted by Enercare and held right here at Woodbridge College. Funded by the Ontario government’s Skills Development Fund, this program is designed to open doors for young women into well-paid, stable careers in the trades.
What the Program Offers:
- 🔧 Hands-On Experience: Practical training in electrical, plumbing, and HVAC.
- 👩🏫 Mentorship: Guidance from experienced professionals in the field.
- 🛠️ Resources: Transportation, tools, and safety equipment provided.
- 💪 Confidence Building: A supportive environment to spark interest and self-assurance.
Why It Matters:
- Tackles the shortage of skilled tradespeople.
- Creates pathways to stable, high-paying careers for women.
- Inspires the next generation to see trades as a first-choice career.
We are proud of our students for embracing this opportunity and grateful to Enercare and the Skills Development Fund for supporting initiatives that empower young women to explore the trades.

Dear Parents/Guardians,
We are excited to inform you that, as part of our ongoing efforts to support students in exploring potential career paths, a Program Facilitator from Skills Ontario will be joining Woodbridge College on Thursday, January 8, 2026 to deliver an engaging, interactive multimedia presentation to our Grade 10 classes. This event is designed to introduce students to the benefits and opportunities of careers in the skilled trades and technologies.
The 45-minute presentation will offer students a comprehensive overview of various skilled trades and technologies, highlighting the potential benefits these fields can provide. The session will cover topics such as:
Exploring Career Opportunities: Students will have the chance to take a visual tour of different skilled trades, learning about various roles, their median salaries, and the qualities, education, and training needed for success. This will help students find a career that aligns with their interests, lifestyle, and personality.

Pathways to a Career in the Skilled Trades: The presentation will cover the steps to apprenticeship and other educational pathways, helping students understand the various routes they can take to enter these industries.
Building Skills and Experience: Students will learn how to acquire hands-on skills and real-world experience that will set them on the path to success in these careers.
Employability Skills: The session will emphasize the importance of key employability skills that can make a significant difference in securing and excelling in a job.
We strongly believe that this presentation will be a valuable learning experience for our students, providing them with the knowledge and resources to make informed decisions about their future career options.
Please feel free to reach out to us if you have any questions or would like additional information about this exciting event.
Thank you for your continued support.
